A Rule for Success (Alt Title: How I Make It Out of Bed Each Day)

Happy Tuesday, guys. Now that Monday is over, we can all go back to our normal, mediocre level of productivity, right?

I’m joking…a little. In all honesty, I learned not so long ago that willpower for productivity is a hoax. I use about 40% of my willpower just rolling out of bed in the morning, and then another 15% searching for my phone. I’m almost positive that you cannot “will” yourself to be more productive with your time. If willpower was my only hope, I’d never accomplish anything.

I don’t want to do anything but things that excite and inspire me. Unfortunately, in order to have the ability to live the life I want, I have to make some serious progress… Every. Single. Day. Progress that requires me to be extremely productive.

So, if it’s not willpower, what is my lifehack to getting things done?

HABIT.

In the distinguished and profound words of Macklemore, “The Greats weren’t great because they could paint; the Greats were great because they paint a lot.” I figure that we are all playing mind games with ourselves all day long, so why not learn how to hack my mind into working for me rather than against my productivity.

Just like making my bed, I create habits of productivity. I use the same pens, follow the same thought processes, drink my coffee from the same cup. No matter where I am working from, the process creates simplicity and focus. This, in turn, automates the dull routine and clears the way for savage and original ideas.

I doesn’t matter if you sit down and only type out the title to a new blog or type a novel; nor, does it matter if you run a block or a marathon. In the end, it’s about creating the habit of opening up your computer or lacing up your shoes each and every day without fail.

The greatest thing about this productivity hack is that it is fail proof 100% of the time, in that, eventually something good will come as long as you don’t quit. Creativity will strike. Your stride will land just right. Your ideas will finally click if you keep putting them out there.

What new habits will help to get to where you want to be? How can you integrate them daily? I want to hear all about it, so send me a message or leave a comment below.
